The food industry degree option offered through the food science major focuses primarily on preparing an individual with the valuable tools and knowledge on how corporate companies operate. The food industry option involves manufacturing, food processing, distribution, retail, research and development, and so much more.

The food industry option will equip students with the training to advance in various segments of food production, processing, and related industries. The goal of the option is to produce students who are uniquely qualified to take on roles in the food industry.

The food industry curriculum is inclusive to the entire food manufacturing chain, from production agriculture to post-harvest processing through retail distribution channels.
