Place of Origin East Mali, West Central Niger, and North West Nigeria
Uses Pack and Dairy
Relationship to other breeds West African (shorthorned) Zebu, Similar to Shuwa
Characteristics Short horns, drooping ears, and a loose hide. They vary in color, but the main color is a mix primarily red with some white.
Breed Societies Hausa Shanun Adar, Fulani Azawa, Azawal
Synonyms Arab, Damerghou or Tagama (Niger), Tuareg
Proscribed Names Not Azawak, Azawa, Azawaje, Azawal
