A Yanbien bull.Yanbian cattle are mainly distributed in the North Agriculture Area of China, and have entirely different ecological conditions from those of the North Pastoral Grassland cattle. They are also found in other Provinces of the northeast, such as Heilongjiang Province, and in Liaoning Province in the south, where Korean minorities dwell.

 

Yanbian cattle are mainly used for draught, and serve as an important source of farm power for the rice-producing areas in the northeast.

 

 

Body measurements

Mature Yanbian cows are much taller and heavier than Mongolain and Kazakh, females having an average wither height of 122 cm and body weight of 365 kg.

Dressing percentages range from 40-48, with a meat percentage of 35.
