Breeds of Livestock - Somali Sheep
Somali
Also Known As: Berbera Blackhead, Blackheaded Somali, Pecora somala a testa nera (Italian), Ogaden
The Somali is a hair sheep which is reared primarily for meat production. They are white with a black head. Both sexes are polled and the breed belongs to the fat-rumped type.
The Blackhead Persian, which was developed in South Africa, originated from the Somali breed.
