2019 OSU Livestock Judging Team – National Champions

Oklahoma State University’s Livestock Judging Team earned top honors at the recent North American International Livestock Exposition’s renowned National Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest in Louisville, KY.

2019 National Livestock Judging Champions

Oklahoma State University’s Livestock Judging Team earned top honors at the recent North American International Livestock Exposition’s renowned National Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest in Louisville, KY.

“This accomplishment adds to the tradition of national championships awarded to OSU Livestock Judging Teams from the past,” said Dr. Blake Bloomberg, team coach and assistant professor of animal science. “In addition to the overall championship, our OSU team was also the contest’s high-scoring team in oral reasons, sheep and goats, swine and cattle.” This is the 20th National Championship in livestock judging for Oklahoma State and the third national champion livestock judging team in a row at Oklahoma State University.

Team members are all OSU Animal Science majors. Individual honors and recognition in the contest and within species were earned by:

● Kylie Patterson, a native of San Antonio, TX., earned first high individual honors overall. Kylie placed first in oral reasons, second in swine and sixth in cattle.
● Dylan Enyart, a native of Vinita, OK., placed third in reasons, sixth in sheep/goats and finished as the contest’s third high individual overall
● Ryan Gifford, a native of Eagle Point, OR., placed third in sheep and goats, seventh in oral reasons and was the contest’s fourth high individual overall
● Kash Allen, a native of Bunch, OK., finished as the 10th high individual overall.
● Chase Ratliff, a native of Westphalia, KS., placed first in performance cattle, first in cattle reasons, second in cattle, second in oral reasons and finished as 12th high individual overall.

Jarrod Halphen – Tuttle, OK
Bradshaw Smoot – Campbellsville, KY
Reid McGuire – Waverly, AL
Lucas Wisnefski – Wyoming, IL

Dr. Blake Bloomberg was named “Coach of the Year” in 2019 for the seventh time in his coaching career.

The team was assisted by Jennifer Bedwell, M.S. student in Agricultural Communications.
