Seeking Ruminant Nutritional Physiologist

Seeking Ruminant Nutritional Physiologist 12/11/2017

Position Description: The Department of Animal Science at Oklahoma State University, is seeking applicants for an 11-month, tenure-track position (70% Research and 30% Teaching) in the fields of fundamental ruminant nutrition, physiology, and/or metabolism. The individual in this position will be expected to develop an internationally recognized research program and contribute to the existing research strengths of the department. The individual will also oversee a core nutrition lab utilized by multiple faculty. Opportunities for independent and collaborative research include, but are not limited to nutritional physiology, gastrointestinal physiology, microbiota and animal health, growth and metabolism, or any other relevant and fundable topics in ruminants. The successful candidate will seek and secure extramural funding in support of a multidisciplinary research program in collaboration with other faculty in the Department, the Division, and the University. Departmental research resources relevant to this position include the Willard Sparks Beef Research Center with 24 Insentec individual feed intake units, the Ferguson Family Dairy Cattle Center with 18 Insentec units, two respiration calorimeters, and laboratory space. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help develop a nutrition and physiology metabolism research center. Small ruminant and grazing facilities are available within 10 miles of campus. Collaboration opportunities exist within the University, with nearby Langston University, and USDA-ARS research facilities, among others.
